Book Club

I am thoroughly enjoying my book club that formed about 4 months ago. We met to discuss our latest book Monday night. It was a wonderful evening full of delicious food and vigorous conversation. After each meeting so far, I can barely wait until the next one, though the wait is part of what makes the evening so special. We discussed A Year in Provence. It was different than the kind of books I usually read. There was no plot, just a detailed account of a couple's first year in their new home in France. They had moved from Britain to a favorite vacation spot of theirs. I felt as if I had been on a vacation to France after reading the book, and I felt more cultured than when I began. It made me want to travel and enjoy my own interesting occurances and experiences.

Our next book is called The Secret Life of Bees. I don't know much about it yet, but am looking forward to diving in. Meanwhile, our book club is trying to come up with a name for ourselves. I'll keep you posted on that.

Did you see that article in the newspaper about the local book clubs? Thought that was interesting. I'll be interested to know of the name yall decide on. Don and I think your writing is great and you should write a column for the newspaper! carol
