Hiding in the grass
This is so strange, that I can't believe it actually happened. We were all playing in the back yard tonight. The kids were running around in the grass and suddenly Nate jerked his foot up off the ground and cried out in pain. He continued to hold his foot in the air and cry. I thought he had stepped on a large twig- our yard is full of them and they can be painful when stepped on wrong. I pulled him to me and picked him up to look at his foot. There seemed to be a splinter or something- it looked like a stinger. I've never even seen a stinger before, but his reaction seemed consistent with being stung. I pulled it out. Cody and I examined his foot. We were perplexed. What could have stung him? It didn't make sense. And then we looked down in time to see a bee just walking in the grass. I've never seen a bee in the grass before. Flying around, yes. Walking in the grass, no. So our little guy got his first bee sting. I'm almost 30 and have never been stung by anything, and here he's experienced it at 18 months. I just hope it doesn't swell up or cause much pain. I had to look up on the internet how to even treat a bee sting. Of course, the bee after stinging, dies. I admit I am pleased by that knowledge. I think that is a just punishment for stinging my baby.
