Rats

Rats! There's a rat! I really can't believe this. I was sitting at the computer yesterday and happened to glance outside just in time to see a large mouse/rat (not sure what to call it) casually crawling head first down the side of our chimney. It jumped into the bushes and disappeared. I was shocked! First of all, I have never seen a mouse or rat the entire 4 1/2 years we've lived here, and second, I didn't know they could walk vertically like that on brick. Well, just when I thought it couldn't get much worse...about 2 hours later while coloring with the kids, I glanced out the window to see that mouse climbing back UP the chimney and by the time I ran out there it had disappeared somewhere into our house. I must say that finding a rat going into your home is much worse than seeing one leave it. We saw two small areas that it may have possibly climbed into, so Cody sprayed both with expanding foam. We'll watch to see if the foam gets eaten by a rat trying to escape, and then take more permanent removal measures. If I ever see a rat inside the house, then I'm afraid I'll have to take the children and move out. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
