Sticky Situation
I was cooking dinner when Ava exclaimed, "My foot is stuck in the chair!" I figured it would be a quick fix and even took my time getting to her, but I did notice that she was beginning to get more and more agitated...quickly. Her foot was wedged between the rungs of a dining room chair and I worked on it for a solid 5 minutes, but I couldn't get it out! Meanwhile she was becomming more hysterical and crying louder with every minute. I was trying to calm her down, but inside I was getting more hysterical, too, wondering if I would be able to free her. Finally I just called our neighbors. We are pretty good friends with a sweet couple that lives across the street. They have two elementary aged boys. I called and asked the husband if they could spare an adult to come over and help me get Ava's foot unstuck from a chair. He came right over and together we were able to finally turn her foot the right way to slide it out. I told him I figured he had never gotten a call quite like that before, and he said he had not. It took me a while to get Ava calmed down after he left. It had really upset her. So now I've called my neighbors for help in one of the oddest ways ever.

Speaking of helpful neighbors and odd requests - our cat brought in a rat one time and let it loose in our house. A big, fat, black rat! My dad was out of town but my mom managed to catch it under a pitcher, but she refused to dispose of it - it was obviously still alive. So she called our neighbor, who sent her husband over to get rid of it for us.
