Small World

Here's how crazy the blog world is. I got an email today from Cody's cousin's wife that she has started a blog. So, I went to it. I was looking at her links to other blogs when I saw one that looked intriguing. So, I clicked on it. Turns out it belongs to a guy I knew in elementary school in Abilene, TX. He and I went to the same church and also went to the church after-school day care together. He lives in New York City now and works at the New York Stock Exchange. The strange thing is that after 20 years, the one thing I remember clearly about him is the day he threw a ball in my face on the playground. It felt strange reading his thoughts (which were thoroughly good and interesting by the way.) Then I started wondering what any of my old classmates from elementary school, middle school, or high school would think if they stumbled upon my blog accidently. What embarrassing things would they remember about me? Trust me, there's no shortage of immature and downright stupid behavior in my past. Here I am an educated, accomplished, mother of three. I'm active in the church and community. Yet, probably someone would be recalling the time I rolled their house in high school, punctured my head by running into a window AC unit in middle school, or wore the same shirt two days in a row by accident in elementary school. Better still- the time I wet my pants in the 3rd grade. Yes, the 3rd grade. Thankfully women have the benefit of changing their last name when they marry. It makes us harder to look up, and it's harder to prove that we are indeed the same person from way back when.

I know who you're talking about and I've seen his blog before. It's weird, right? to snoop on someone's blog who you haven't seen or talked to in years and years? I think that's why I quit blogging. Not only does nothing remotely interesting happen to me any more, but I just feel more private with myself lately. It was strange to find out some of the people who were reading it - not all of them invited. Then I feel guilty because I know how much I enjoy reading other people's blogs no matter how random the post. You, in particular, are very generous with your thoughts and stories and I love keeping up with you this way!

I agree that this blogging thing seems to make the world a much smaller place. I just had a comment on my blog from a girl I went to church camp and then A&M with...she had found my blog through someone else's.

I think it is kind of fun to catch up with new(old) people!
