Question: When are kids most likely to get a face injury?
A. When no adult is in the room to see exactly what happened.
B. When they are loopy as a result of skipping their nap.
C. When they are scheduled to get pictures made within the next 2 days.
D. All of the above.
Yea for you if you answered D. All mothers out there are shaking their heads and saying Amen.
Last October, Ava fell from the bed upstairs and broke her arm. I was not in the room at the time. Today, Nate fell from that same bed, and again I was not there to see it. I heard crying and screaming. I should have realized the screaming had a fevered pitch that seemed more hysterical than usual. When I went into the room I saw Nate on the ground with blood all over his face, hands, and shirt. I don't know exactly what happened, but his face hit some part of the bed and I think an upper tooth cut a gash into his lower lip. The cut looks tooth-shaped anyway. The bleeding stopped quickly, thank goodness, but he will have a sore, swollen, bruised lip tomorrow. Many injuries fade into oblivion, but this one will be immortalized in film when we get his 3 year old photos made Thursday. Last year, for his 2 year old photos, he had a scab under his nose. I was really hoping that this year we'd get a nice clean injury-free picture. I guess there's always next year. If a picture paints a thousand words, then I think his have something to say about being a rambunctious, rough and tumble little boy.

Amen! Although, Elijah seems to always fall on his face as we are actually in the store, in the five minutes that it takes between walking up to the counter and taking the pictures. And we have a nice busted lip picture hanging in the hallway. But as my nice dental hygienist said, "you don't ever have to worry about life being boring!"
I'm so sorry Nate got hurt! What a picture that will make! But at least it's no worse than a busted lip.
I guess all of the above. :) I am so sorry to hear about Nate but I love your spirit about it. Boys will be boys - there is a reason they have that saying.
Awww, poor Nate! I can't believe this!
