The Abyss

Lucas' shoe is lost. It is driving me crazy. One morning, they were both sitting on the windowsill in the bathroom. The next thing I know I saw him carrying one shoe right outside the bathroom door. He dropped it there on the floor. I picked it up and looked for the other shoe. It is nowhere to be found. I think it has dropped off the face of the planet. I have no idea what could have happened to it in the short time before it went missing. I assume if Lucas was carrying one shoe that he also carried the other and put it somewhere. But I have no idea where. The shoe is only the latest casualty in the "Great Abyss" otherwise known as our house. One of Ava's shoes was also missing during this time. We finally found it outside in the backyard after two days of searching. I'm concerned when Ava's shoes go missing, but she has several pairs to choose from. It's much worse with Lucas because he only has the one pair. My poor baby has been going everywhere in only socks for three days now because I can't find his shoe. This is getting embarrassing. Many, many items have been lost during my 5 years as a parent. Some are found weeks or even months after they disappear. I am afraid we'll be moving furniture one day when Lucas is in college and will finally find his lost baby shoe. A shoe that will only fit on his big toe by that point. Words can't express how badly I want to find this shoe and how miserably I have failed in that endeavor. I'm reaching my breaking point. Please, please, please, shoe appear!

I am glad to know we aren't the only one who continually lose items to the abyss! So annoying! You know it has to be some place on this earth... why can't we find it??? I sure hope you find the shoe!
