Thanks

Maybe other young mothers think about this all the time and I am particularly self-centered. But I rarely considered the sacrifices many make at church so that I could experience time with my peers. I didn't consider it much until I became one that regularly sacrifices. There have been a few Sundays where I go to church and spend the entire morning teaching and watching children while other parents enjoy Bible class and assembly time. (First by teaching Bible class for 2 year olds and then by being a tapper in the children's worship time.) I know my friend Dara has spent several Sundays in a row now in the nursery the entire morning greeting families as they drop off and pick up their kids. I know many others who have been Bible class teachers for years or who give one Sunday a month to teach children's worship, or even some who spend every Sunday evening at the building watching kids instead of being part of a life group in a home.

I'm trying to be more mindful of those that give up time with other grown-ups so that others can enjoy it. I know spending time with kids has its own rewards, but trust me, as much as I love and enjoy children- I would almost always prefer to be in an adult Bible class or life group. It's a sacrifice for me. And I am sure it is a sacrifice for many others who give their time in this way.

Even though I am being more intentional about recognizing the sacrifices of others, I am still not the best at actually vocalizing my thanks in some way. So, I hope I can make an effort this week to write a note or call someone who has given their time watching my children so I can be an active part of a "grown-up" time of spiritual and social growth.

Becky,
I know whoever recieves one of your notes will be blessed. They are few and far between but mean so much when recieved. I hope that you too recieve a blessing for the sacrifice that you have made as well. Our children are precious and it takes incredible servants who sacrifice their own needs to ensure that our children know they are an important part of the church, and that the Word will be planted in their hearts so that they will grow to be servants of the Lord as well.

Thank you, thank you for teaching 2yr Bible Class... Ellie Beth loves you to pieces! Thanks also for your time with Baby Bible class and all the other "kid time" you've done. You have given lots of your time to spend with RE kiddos! With lots of people volunteering and helping each other out, ideally, we all will get a balance of both adult and kid interaction time!

Amen and Hallelujah to all of those wonderful caregivers in our children's life! There are so many selfless wonderful adults that give their time and energy to our little ones.
