Memories

I may be opening Pandora's Box here, especially for those of you that have known me a long time.
In fact, I am a little nervous about this post, but ever since I saw it on Brooke's blog I figured I would give it a try. Please, be gentle.

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot-- or just from blogland-- anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

One of my memories of you Becky was when we were in a small group together in Ladies Bible Class. I was so impressed by your vulnerablity and the desire you had to have a heart that was of the father's heart. You only had Ava and were not secure in your motherhood. It has been awesome to watch you grow and see that God has gifted you as a mother and your children are so blessed. You are doing a great job. We all knew that you would it is just neat to see you live into God's purpose for you.

I remember meeting you in October of 2004 - our very first visit to RE. You and Cody were so warm and welcoming - we knew RE was the right church for us. Now we have small group, book club, new mommy's advice, and the list goes on. God has really blessed and blossomed our friendship.

Wow! So many stories we could all tell! :) I'll have to go with my first memory of you too. We met you guys the first week we came to Bible class, and we were so impressed with the way you and Cody talked to us and made us feel welcome. You guys are one of the main reasons why we joined RE! You are awesome, Becky!

I have many memories of rooming together at Harding. A specific one is the time we decided we were going to get up early and walk.......well, that didn't last long!

Your blogging skills are so impressive! I feel like I have a glimpse into your life that I otherwise wouldn't. I don't know you too well, but I feel that I have a good sense of who you are by reading/listening Music Mondays. Your blog is very entertaining. Also, you are very generous! Audrey has some clothes and toys because of you. Happy paper signing today!

You invited me to a baby shower the very first Sunday that Casey and I visited RE. That welcome has stuck with me. But my most favorite memory of you has something to do with chopsticks!

Oh my! I thought of the chopsticks incident too! Soooo funny!

Yes, ditto on the chopsticks. One of the funnier memories for sure! :)

Oh geez, which memory... Ok, I remember the sleep-over at your house in middle school where you and some other girls snuck out to "roll" someone's house while I stood guard in the bathroom ready to immitate the sound of 4 girls in the bathroom if one of your parents were to wake up. It was so scandalous back then - did you ever tell your mom about that? If not, I guess I just did...

Elaine- my mom found out about it shortly after the event and I got in BIG trouble. In fact, I think I was punished more severely for that infraction than at any other time in my life!

I do remember that night clearly...although I am not sure what possessed me to think sneaking out of the house was a good idea!

My first memories of you were at Dan and Kelli's small group on Sunday nights before you had any kiddos. I remember thinking how refreshing you were with your bright ideas and frankness in our discussions. That seems like so long ago! At least 6 years or more! I also love all of your hair stories from childhood/teenage years. The chopsticks incident was also classic! You are such a joy! I am so thankful you are my friend!

Oh, there are so many things to choose from, but I'll go with when we were driving home from a visit to Harding and one of the tires on your car blew out. You got out and looked at it and said, "Oh no, it always looks like that." And the whole long story that came after that incidnet!

Honestly, when you're around, something fun, funny, interesting, or profound always happens. I miss you!

Jim said to share this moment of his...we came to Texas to see you and were at your place and he picked up a rotary cutter that you were using to cut material. You shreiked at him to be careful because it was really sharp. He thought that was hilarious, probably because he started carrying his own pocketknife at like the age of five!

I have so many things I could talk about since we roomed together during a trying year. I guess the memory I will write about is the time you convinced me to sing a duet with you at a Knight's event. I still to this day do not know how you did that. I am not outgoing enough to do that typically. i remember it was so cold that it was hard for you to play the guitar. I guess it was a growing experience! I know that we shared a lot of laughs and tears during that year!

So, do hours and hours of perfecting the minute details of "Smile", "Ray's Rockhouse" and "Blue Skies" count as memories we share together? If so, I have too many memories to count. :)
