First Party

My new neighbor, the sweet older woman who is almost always standing in her yard watering whenever I visit our new home, probably thinks I am crazy now. That's ok I guess, since I kind of think she is crazy, too, for being outside so much in the roasting heat that has lately descended on us.

Anyway, I pulled into the driveway last night around 6:30 PM and, of course, she was outside watering. She came over to chat for a minute and mentioned that she figured we were anxious to get moved into our new place. I told her we were and that, in fact, I was hosting a party in the house that very evening. She looked a bit shocked. I said that even though we don't have any furniture, my book club was coming over for dinner and discussion and that we were all bringing folding chairs.

And that's exactly what we did! We gathered in a circle in the living room and feasted on some salad and pizza. That was after the grand tour, during which the girls gave me some great advice about where to place furniture. It was the first time I got to show the house to any friends, and I was glad to share it with these gals who mean so much to me.

The only drawback was that the hot tub wasn't working yet. But that just gives us something else to look forward to next time the meeting is at my place. Bring your swimsuits, girls. Or...not...and we can give the nice neighbor lady another shock.
