Some of you already know that I was able to host Thanksgiving lunch for the first time in my life this year. It has been a dream of mine for a very long time, but I never had a large enough space to even think about trying it until we moved into our new home a month ago. That's right...one month ago means that I had 4 weeks to get settled in before the big day. This move went extremely well though, and I didn't feel any pressure as Thanksgiving day drew nearer. In fact, the entire process has not been stressful or difficult. I really enjoyed doing it, and I hope I can do it again another year soon.
Here are photos of the dining room and sun room all set up for the feast. And a photo of the kids' table in use. I had to beg, borrow and steal (ok, not steal) tables, chairs, and silverware because we had 27 people here.
I meant to take a picture of the turkey, but I forgot about it until I was halfway done carving it. By then it didn't look as nice. It was a great turkey, though. I brined it before roasting, and it was juicy and full of flavor. It was a 20 pound bird, but we only have a handful of meat left over. There was a large ham here also. I have to say, the food this year was incredible. I've got 2 dishes to get the recipes for that I can't wait to make. One was a spinach casserole (with a spicy kick), the other a broccoli salad. I will share the recipes on the BAD Girl's recipe blog soon.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by family and friends.
