Tennessee Part 2

We pulled into beautiful, historic Columbia, TN at 5 PM to see a former college roommate of mine and her family. The weird thing about Brandy and me is that our husbands' friendship goes back even farther than our own. Phillip and Cody were in the church youth group together in junior high and high school. They roomed together in college also. When Cody started dating me during our semester abroad in London, Phillip started dating Brandy. The guys introduced their new girlfriends to each other once we returned and the rest is history.

We spent two nights in Columbia. My 6 and 4 year old thought Brandy's 6 and 4 year old were awesome, and Lucas just tagged along where he could. Just like he does at home, come to think of it. The day we left, Brandy's 6 year old became a 7 year old. Too bad we couldn't stay for the party!

We took the kids to a cool wooden play area the likes of which I had never seen before. The kids had fun running around and I got to visit with yet another old college roommate- Carrie, Phillip's sister drove over from a neighboring town and brought her 7 year old and 9 month old boys. Apparently, if it weren't for Phillip loaning me his girlfriend and sister, I would have never had a college roommate.
A lot of Wii playing went down during our visit. I had not played since last January so I was a little rusty. My shoulder ached so bad I wanted to cut it off after about 20 minutes. Yeah, I know, it's pathetic.
Unfortunately, I did not get a single photo of Brandy and me together. I could say it's because we were too busy visiting, monitoring the kids, laughing, etc...but really, it's because we're both so darn good looking we figured the camera couldn't handle the two of us in one picture.

Brandy cooked me some Indian mango chicken that was delicious, but she saved her piece de resistance for the last night I was there...but first, I left to visit Knoxville and another family for 2 days. So, you'll have to wait to find out what amazing dish she cooked when I returned.

Stay tuned...

p.s. Guess what Hannah Montana fans!!!! The courthouse in downtown Columbia, about 1 block away from Brandy's house was used in the recent Hannah Montana film! Eeeeeeeeee! Oh my gosh! Part of the movie was filmed right down the street from my friend. Phillip told me he saw Billy Ray Cyrus! (squeal!) Read all about it here.

On behalf of the City of Columbia Bureau of Tourism, I'd like to thank you for the Hannah Montana shout-out.
