Beach Vacation Part 1

Finally, a little overview of our beach vacation. This has become an "Every other year" tradition for our family. It was our third time to go to our favorite little beach town Surfside Beach, TX. It's a tiny place, with a beautiful pedestrian beach and some cute beach houses available for rent. This was our house this year, The Mermaid.

Unfortunately, the vacation started off with a little bump as Cody was feeling pretty sick. Our first morning there his throat felt "like he was swallowing razor blades." So, he spent the entire morning at the ER being seen by a doctor and getting some antibiotics prescribed for what turned out to be a throat infection. He then spent the rest of the day sleeping and trying to regain his strength. Here he is with his nifty hospital bracelet. He did perk up later in the trip, but never was up to full health.

At least we had some great friends staying with us the first 3 days. The kids and I hit the beach with our good friends, the Chappells. They have 3 kids also, similar in ages to our kids, so everyone had lots of fun playing together.

The water was great, the food and companionship wonderful. It was a great start to our week at the beach. Stay tuned for more...
