We realized the kids had a 4 day weekend coming up, and thought it might be nice to get out of town for a couple of days. Without any prior discussion about what kind of trip we should take, Cody sent me a link to a beautiful cabin near Broken Bow, OK. Little did he know, I had been thinking a cabin would be perfect.
The location was perfect. It was not a long drive, the woods were refreshing, and the cabin sat near the entrance to Beaver's Bend State Park. We hiked a couple of short trails, and visited this great nature center inside the park. The kids got to pet a snake there.
In the evenings, we sat by a roaring fire, ate great food, worked puzzles, and played checkers. I got in some reading time, too. And, Cody's parents stopped by on their way home from an Arkansas trip to visit with us and play with the kids.
Plus, I got to play with my new favorite toy. I still don't know what I am doing with my DSLR camera, but I got a book from the library today that I hope will help. A second book I ordered from Amazon should be delivered soon, also. I'll post some photos from the weekend soon.
