Now Hiring: Cook

It happens every summer. I lose the desire to cook.

Maybe it's because the kids are home all the time so grocery shopping is a chore I can barely force myself to tackle. Maybe it's the summer heat that quells the desire to stand in front of a hot stove or oven. Maybe it's because I love fall and winter type foods waaaay more than summer fare. I don't know exactly why, but putting dinner together becomes difficult for me during summer. I can't think of anything to make, nothing sounds really good, and I don't even want to think about it!

I guess I could grill more, but I get tired of making the same old things that I know how to make. I am not an adventurous grill-master. A recent trip to the farmer's market sparked my interest slightly, but not for long.

Does anyone have any inspiration for me? Can you share a favorite summer recipe? How can I get out of the box when it comes to grilling? What glorious summery foods am I missing out on? Help!

just looked at the Bad Girls Recipe blog and Rachel's Taquitos look good! is about 3 recipes down I think. But I am the same when the weather gets so hot. Don't want to turn on the oven or even a burner and can't even think of anything that sounds good. ;-(

Ok, that's weird...I was going to suggest the taquitos or the brisket tacos. Very minimal "cooking" involved and really good dishes. Kids should like them too depending on the kid.
