The Lifeboat

Just finished a great novel this weekend and wanted to tell other readers about it because it was such an enjoyable read.

I saw a blurb about The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan in a monthly book review magazine and knew right then I wanted to read it.  It reminded me a lot of Hitchcock's movie and it was similar in some ways, but original as well.

The story opens with a young woman on trial for murder for a death that happened aboard a lifeboat after a large ocean liner sunk (much like the Titanic.)  It is set in the early 1900's and it alternates between the current trial, the time on the lifeboat, and the history of this young woman and how she came to be aboard the ocean liner.

It went by so quickly, and was so fascinating to me.  In fact, I really wish I had someone to discuss this book with because I am so intrigued about what others might think of this woman.  I am curious about her character, her motives, just the kind of person she is.  I have some ideas about it, but wonder if others would get the same vibes or something totally different.

It's just a really great book, and if any of you read it let me know!
