My "baby" turned 6 yesterday. Poor Lucas is at the end of the birthday run in our family. We have December, then January, and finally come February we are all kind of exhausted and losing creative steam. Last week we realized we had better plan something and invite someone...so we tossed together plans for an Angry Bird party. I'm actually pleased with how well it all turned out given our lackluster efforts.
When his friends arrived, they all built and demolished with the Angry Birds game for a while.
Then, in a stroke of brilliance, we moved into the sunroom to build wooden bird feeders so the birds wouldn't be angry anymore. The kits were great and easy to purchase on Amazon. Two day shipping, baby.
The boys seemed to really enjoy the building, especially the hammering. Then they got to paint the feeders.
After making the project, we moved into the dining room for cake and ice cream.
Lucas and his friends had a fabulous time and it was an easy, low-key party. I really cherished all the smiles and laughter from Lucas today as he enjoyed spending time with his friends. He is such a sweetheart.
And now we are done with birthdays again for the next 11 months. It's kind of like ripping off a band-aid...we just get it all over with at once around here. Not a bad thing.

Yeah! A great success indeed. I wish I could've been there. Jed described the cake for me and I just knew I could probably see it on your blog! Those pictures of Lucas are precious! Love his big brown eyes. Our boys are getting soooo big!
Don't forget, you still have yours and Cody's days to celebrate!! Kari
