Polka Dots
One thing is certain about my children...they are destined to have lots of freckles and moles. They have two heavily freckled/moled parents so they just can't escape the genetic code. My dermatologist told me that moles start to appear on children and that new moles will continue to appear throughout the entire lifespan. Ava already has two freckles (they are still a little small for me to call moles) on one knee. She is starting to become fascinated by them. Once during a recent diaper change she asked me over and over "What's that?" while pointing to the larger freckle. "It's a freckle." I answered, only to hear "What's that, Mommy?" again and again. Finally I said, "You know what it is. Tell me what it is." and she said "freckle" or at least something very similar to that. A few days passed and then today she pointed to the freckle again and told me, "It's a polka dot on my knee!" Well, that's one way of looking at it.
