Indian Food

If you've never tried Indian food before- go try it. Right now! Okay, I'll give you until the weekend. It is great stuff. The flavors are different than anything I had ever tried before. It isn't just all "curry powder" as I had once naively thought. And it doesn't have to be hot either. I like to get mild food because the flavors of the seasoning stand out instead of my mouth feeling too hot. I think it was our friends Brandy and Phillip that first introduced us to Indian food. After that, I met a woman in my mom's club (that also happened to live a block from us) who is from India. She has cooked several good meals for us and she also taught me how to cook a few dishes. There is a "little India" market area on a shopping corner about a mile from our home. She took me to the main grocery store there and showed me some things to buy. I have been back a few times by myself. I am always the only caucasion in the place. It can be a little intimidating. Tonight I am making a malabar chicken dish, lentils, and potatoes/cauliflower, and rice, of course. If you are not sure what restaurant to try, there is a chain called Clay Pit that is expensive, but good. We like the hole in the wall buffet type places. There are a lot of those in the Dallas area. Look it up in the guidelive.com.
