Perspective
Ava does something that just cracks me up. She has a swing with very long ropes tied high above to the tree branch. The arc on this swing is really amazing. We run underneath her and hoist the swing as high as it will go. She squeals with joy as she swings extremely high off the ground. Then after about 3 back and forths, her swing is not at full throttle anymore. Now it is only swinging high, not EXTREMELY high like she prefers. So, she starts to inform us that "my swing is stopped." Now any other kid in America would be happy to be swinging at the height and arc she's currently at, but to her, knowing full well what the swing is capable of, this might as well be a standstill. It irritates me that she can't just enjoy the medium swinging, because I've got to keep hoisting the swing higher to keep her happy. But, that's her perspective on it. Why bother swinging if you can't swing as high as it goes? In a way, I admire her "all or nothing" attitude. But, it would be nice for her to learn to appreciate the middle ground sometimes, too. Especially when Mama and Daddy are tired.
