The kids are developing all kinds of new abilities this week. Nate has discovered sibling rivalry. He suddenly hates for me to hold Ava and will cry or climb all over me when he notices I am holding her. Ava has discovered her own brand of humor. She is telling a "joke" lately about the cat. I ask her what the cat eats and she replies, "Dog food!" with an expectant grin on her face. I squeal and laugh my protest and ask again what the cat really eats. She replies, "Pig food!" and laughs! We go on for a few rounds of every imaginable type of food until we agree the cat really eats cat food and we are so silly!
Nate has finally made his first consonant sound...let's hear it for "buh." Of course, Ava was already saying her first word when she was only 2 weeks older than he is now. Her first word, coincidentally was "cat." The cat plays a big role in this family.
Ava has learned how to play hide and seek- sort of. She now wants to play every evening with Daddy. They take turns counting to ten while the other hides. She counts so fast, it's difficult for him to get out of the room before she finishes. When it's her turn to hide, she just runs to a different room and stands right in the middle of it. Sometimes she comes running before you get a chance to find her. The cutest thing is how she giggles every single time Cody says "Ready or not, here I come." You'd think it would get old.
It's fun to see every new stage of their development.
