Thunderstorm

We had a great thunderstorm last night right around 9:30 PM. Lots of lightening, thunder and heavy rain. That kind of storm always produces a variety of good feelings within me. I feel safe and warm and secrure inside the house and I am so thankful for our home. I think about my kids and wonder if the thunder will wake them. I know that if it does, I'll be happy to snuggle with them and help them feel safe. Thinking about that makes me smile. I think about the dry ground soaking up the free gift of water from the heavens. The heavy rain seems to wash away the stress and weariness of the long day.

I've always loved rain, as long as I can remember. I prefer cloudy days to sunny. The best naps are taken on a rainy afternoon. And some of my favorite memories of my grandparents' farm are sitting on the front porch swing watching the rain fall. It refreshes the air leaving behind that sweet rain smell. All the colors outside seem richer after the rain. Just watching the rain can be relaxing and peaceful. And the sound- that amazing sound that ranges from a soft patter to a roaring downfall- is beautiful!
