Wedding Cake Weekend

It begins today, and will conclude Saturday morning as I assemble a three tier wedding cake for a friend's daughter's wedding. I've never done a wedding cake before. It is a big undertaking, even though this is really a simple cake I am making. I will bake 8 round cakes, make tons of icing, and spend hours decorating. That will all be enjoyable to me. The moment I am dreading is the assembly of the cakes. Placing those pillars and setting up the tiers will be the defining moment. I'm feeling good about it, but it is constantly hanging over me in my mind. It will be until I finally do it and realize it is simple and I had nothing to worry about, or it topples into a heap and I die of mortification.
