Lots in a Name

Just a simple name can fill a mind with all sorts of images. Names are important. Think of all the hours spent dreaming up product names, baby names, etc. There's a meat company that sells hot dogs, bacon, and the like in our local stores called "Rath." I hate that name, and refuse to buy any of their products. To me, it sounds like another slang term for vomit, like "barf" or as if it might contain rats. I seriously wonder about the quality of their food- all because of the name! I've never heard a bad word about them, or tasted their meats and found them inferior. I am basing my decision about them only on their name. It's probably the last name of the poor old guy that founded the company 100 years ago or something, who knows! Friends of ours just had a baby boy and named him Caleb. That's a solid, strong, Biblical name. It makes me think of one who trusted and obeyed God. There's a good reason one never comes across girls named Jezebel, since the opposite thoughts are inspired by her name. So, when founding a company, or having a baby, consider the name carefully. It really does make a lasting impression!

When we were pregnant with Todd, a lady annoyed us about naming him Judah. Not a name we were fond of or wanted to use. She just did not get why we didn't want to have him named that. I think names show parents personalities. It is interesting to me to find out what people name their children.
