Worst Park Trip Ever

I am not a fan of taking the kids to the park. Especially if the temperature is over 75 degrees. I don't want to do it. But, our church was having a big park day and sent invitations and everything. The park is far from my house. That's another strike against it. But, I overcame all my negative feelings about dragging the kids to a park, packed our lunches, slathered the sunscreen, and went. What should have been a 25 minute drive turned into an hour because I couldn't find the place! I had looked up my route carefully- twice, and still got lost! Turns out the main road I was looking for is called a different name in real life. Drat! We arrive at the park, finally, to find only one other mom and her kids there! It was supposed to be a huge event with lots of Ava's friends for her to run around and play with. She didn't even know these other kids because they were older than her. At the park it was t least cloudy, but humid as could be. After playing 20 minutes, it actually began to pour rain! Now, this is some kind of freak event since it is a high of 104 today and we are all on water rationing because it just is not raining. It aparently only rains when we are at a park with hardly any shelter. We found a dry spot and waited for the 10 minute shower to pass. Then we played some more- there was no good place for a parent to sit and watch their kids so I was standing the entire time and getting so tired. 15 minutes before we left, another mom showed up, but we hardly got to visit. I sat with the kids to eat our lunch, but just then the sun came bursting out and it suddenly felt 20 degrees hotter than before, as if that were even possible. There was no shade. It was too hot to even eat. We just left and drove home utterly exhausted. Just when I think I am getting over my dislike of parks, I get reminded of why I don't like to go.
