It's Broken
Don't let that smile fool you. Ava has spent a lot of time crying the past couple of days. She especially cried as the splint and sling were being put on her tonight. I tried to distract her by talking about the colorful animals on the sling, but that only made her start screaming, "I don't like pink monkeys!!!!!" She fell off our bed Thursday afternoon and would not use her arm after that. I took her to her doctor this morning and he felt x-rays would be the best course. I am so glad we did it. It showed a fracture in her humerous just above the elbow. It is actually almost part of the elbow that is fractured. We were in the ER at Childrens from 5-10 PM tonight. 5 hours is not too bad really for an ER visit. But, 5 hours with a child that absolutely hates the hospital bracelet on her wrist and keeps saying, "I want to go home" can be a bit tedious. Overall, she did really well. She spent a lot of time waiting, and she did it patiently. She didn't much like anything the doctors needed to do to her, but it got done. Now we're home and all exhausted. And it turns out she DOES like her sling after all. She proudly showed it to granna and grandad when we got home. In one week it gets repaced with a real cast. This has been an adventure.

I am so glad Ava doesn't have to have surgery. You guys were in my thoughts and prayers all night. We love you guys!
I am glad you were able to get things looked at and taken care of. I will keep all of you in our prayers. I can't imagine trying to keep Todd in a sling!
