The Case of the Missing Bear

Ava gets "Bible Bucks" at church that can be used to "buy" candy or toys from a small store. Through no careful planning of her own, but because of our forgetfulness, she had saved up lots of these bucks because I never remember to bring them to church so she can spend them. Finally today, she got to spend her Bible Bucks and was able to buy the most expensive item in the store...a purple teddy bear. She named it Purple Bear (clever, huh?) and has carried it around all day. She is so proud of that bear.
Tonight she and Nate came home from church and Nate started carrying her purple bear around the house. She didn't like that much, but since she was eating grapes at the time I convinced her to go ahead and let Nate have a short turn with the bear. Then baths were started, and the bear was forgotten by all. Tonight after being tucked in, Ava asked for her purple bear. Cody and I knew we had seen Nate playing with it downstairs just before bath time, but between the two of us we couldn't find it anywhere. There are only so many places it could be, and we had looked everywhere. We were beginning to feel frustrated and think we were losing our minds. Where could it possibly be? After a long search, Cody finally found it in the most unlikely place...stuffed into the little training potty in the bathroom. He just happened to lift the lid and check. I don't know why he would, because Nate has never put anything in there before. And he really had to cram that bear in because it's a large bear for such a small space. I am of course completely grossed out, even though that bucket is totally clean right now since Nate hasn't learned how to use the potty yet. I cleaned it well and got it all set up some time ago, but we haven't even really tried to get him to use it. We'll have to make sure and break the idea of stuffing toys into the potty before he learns how to pee in it. His germophobic mother would not be able to handle such stress.

That is quite an original hiding place. Has he put anything in the real toilet?

how funny! congrats on finding the bear. I have a cat that likes to hoard toys - I'm always surprised when I find his stash :)

Ewww! That would gross me out too! But at least he didn't put it in the real toilet! Did you tell Ava where you found it?

No, Nate has never put anything in the real toilet and I hope he never does because I would have to throw it away whatever it is. And no, I didn't tell Ava where it was, although she probably wouldn't have been that grossed out by it.
