Letdown

The daily mail is one of the highlights of my day. That may sound pathetic, but it's true. For as long as I can remember I have loved mail. I like to write letters. I like to get letters. I like to get any kind of interesting catalogs or news or a netflix, or whatever! So, naturally, after being without the mail for 3 very long days, I had built up a bit of anticipation about what wonderful things might come to us today. Around 1 PM I heard the familiar creak of the screen door, the metal scrape of the mail slot lifting, the mail being shoved through and falling to the floor, and had to stop myself from leaping off the couch to go collect the mail. As I walked to the door expecting a huge pile of wonderful mail, I was absolutely shocked to see only two measley envelopes on the floor. One was a bill from the hospital for Ava's broken arm, and the other a list of classes at the cake shop near my home. I probably had a scowl of raw disappointment on my face. I'm still not quite over it.

I know what you mean. It is so hard to let go of the holiday excitement so ready to see who sent a letter today. We all really need to get better about sending personal notes. Thanks for the reminder.

That is funny because I had a different sentiment. At work AND home, I said to myself, "Golly, why so much mail as I dread going through what in our house is about 50% junk mail. Funny though that we got 3 Christmas letters today...much fun!
