Ava's Prayer

Almost word for word, as I remember it from dinner tonight:

"Dear God, Thank you for the whole wide world. Please help Mrs. Barnes feel better. Thank you for everything...everything...everything. In Jesus' name, Amen."

The dots stand for the pauses she took between "everythings" and each "everything" became slightly more emphasized as she progressed. She has never said any prayer even similar to this one. I was almost laughing by the time it was over...mostly because of the innocence and how it just about covers, well, everything!

She is so sweet! How great the faith of a child that knows God controls everything!!

A significant step in faith development when a prayer can actually come from a child's heart instead of just being repetitive. You as a parent are doing a great job of living at that Deuteronomy 6:6-9 mandate and Ava is living proof. I know that God was smiling at that prayer!

That is just precious. That is a moment I look so forward to with Kimbo. Thanks for sharing Ava's sweet prayer with us.

At Christmas my (then) 3 year old nephew said grace at dinner and asked God to protect him from monsters with "monster gaurd" (an invisible covering which one pulls over one's head on the way to bed each night). My mom was snorting with laughter with tears coming out of her eyes... good stuff.
