Ava's Story

As told by Ava:
Once upon a time, there were three little children named Lucas, Ava, and Nate. One day they decided to have a picnic in the park. But then, something sad happened! All the animals at the park had to get a haircut. They were sad and crying because they had never had their hair cut before. But after the hair cut, the animals were happy again, and everyone enjoyed the picnic.
The End.

I love how she already recognizes the basics of story-telling. There are characters, a setting, a crisis, a resolution...this is great material! I might be able to get her to give me an idea for the novel I plan to write one day. Hmmm...animal hair cuts.

So cute! You are so right - Ava knows how to tell a story. She had me on the edge of my seat to find out what happens next. :) I am so glad it had a happy ending - my favorite! :)

A very impressive story! I've had high school creative writing students that didn't grasp the elements of story-telling that well! What it inspired by real events? I know my boys think haircutting is worth crying over!

hmmmm.........Ava always wants a story when I lay down with her at bedtime and usually I start with some children and their mama and sometimes daddy going to a park or maybe zoo and they either have a snack or picnic....but have never thought of the animal haircuts! Wonder how she will embellish on this??? She has such an active imagination, she will be sure to have lots of stories in the future! c
