Manipulation

Nate was in trouble today. He had to sit in the "blue chair" which is really just a regular wing back in our living room. To the kids, however, it's time-out. He began to smile at me. He has such a sly, mischievous little grin. He kept his eyes locked with mine, and the smile on his face as he slowly started to slip down out of the chair. He knew what he was doing was wrong. Yet, he looked me straight in the face and as he was sliding out of the chair he said "You're my best friend!" Already at age 2 1/2 he has figured out that honey catches bees, not vinegar.

Oh yes that takes no time at all to figure out. Kimber has already figured out that we love hugs so when she gets in trouble she goes straight to hug us. What do you do?!! It is so hard to stay firm. :)

I can already tell Caleb is going to be the same way. Chris and I are in so much trouble! :)

O, man...I wanted to know what you did NEXT! He's got the mischevious smile down pat, I think! So cute!

I'm hoping my years of teaching and scolding while hiding a smile or a laugh will benefit me in the years to come. I doubt it though. Becky, we want to hear how you handled it. Were you soft or stern??
