Call me old-fashioned...

I watched a really stupid movie this weekend called The Holiday. Starring: Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black, and Jude Law. The premise: two women who just ended bad relationships switch houses (one in L.A. the other in England) and find true love (within a week)! The entire thing was pretty dumb, but the one part that I just couldn't believe was when a stranger (Jude Law) shows up at Amanda's (Cameron Diaz) vacation house in London and they have sex within minutes of her inviting him inside the house. I guess I know that people actually do this sometimes in real life: have sex with someone they just met. But I really don't know why. Even if I picture myself unmarried and with no morals what-so-ever, I still would never have sex with a stranger. That is just scary! Who knows if they are murderers, or have some horrible disease? Why would a person become just about as vulnerable as a person can get- completely naked- with someone they don't know at all? Really, it is beyond my comprehension.
So I guess I am pretty old-fashioned, and also incredibly smart. Too smart to have sex with a stranger. All this talk about sex is probably going to give my blog an "R" rating.

OH MY GOSH!!!! That's it... you & I just cannot be friends anymore!! :) Amanda G. took me & Kelli to see that movie at the theater & I was dead set against liking it (because I really don't like Jude Law or Cameron Diaz), but I LOVED it!!! In fact, I loved it so much, I made Sammy watch it with me & I watched it again on the way home from my first trip to the Philippines. And, I would watch it a fourth time in a heartbeat!

But, that's what makes life so interesting... we all have vastly different opinions. It would be so boring if we all had the same views!

Sorry, Becky! I really liked that movie too! I totally agree with you about the ridiculous-ness of having sex with someone you just met, particularly one who shows up at your vacation house in the middle of the night, drunk, in another country! But overall, I really enjoyed it in the end. Even Jim liked it, at least as much as he is capable of liking such a girly movie!

I agree with you on the morals of the movie. I do like the idea of switching homes to go on a vacation, although I would never be brave enough to do so.
