So, the other crazy holiday decoration on my street will take us on a trip down memory lane. You may recall last June when I posted about my neighbor's Century Plant. It's a type of cactus that only blooms after several decades. When it does bloom, it produces a huge spike that grows up from the center of the plant and reaches dazzling heights. Unfortunately, after blooming the plant dies. Even more unfortunate is that my neighbor leaves the dead plant in her yard. It has been dead for months, its enormous spike still reaching toward the heavens. But apparently, that dead plant's spike is still good for something.
