Ballet

I always wondered if I would have a daughter one day and if I did have a daughter, would she take dance? Looks like the answer to both of those questions is yes. Ava took a year of ballet at the rec center and now it's Spring recital time. I have to admit I wasn't too thrilled about this. $50 for a dress. Three days/evenings in a row of ballet class, rehearsal, and performance. She's only going to dance for about 5 minutes, but we've got to find a sitter for Lucas and sit through an hour program. The entire thing didn't make me giddy with joy. That is, until I saw her tonight in her precious costume. And when I saw her up on the stage trying her best, and dancing her little heart out...well, then I got super excited about this. It's one of the neatest things I've experienced. I am so proud of her. I am just so deeply and utterly proud of her. She may never do dance again. But at least she got to try it once and participate in the full experience. And tomorrow as her daddy and I watch her do her 5 minute dance, that is in no way perfect, her effort will be perfect in our eyes.

Oh, Becky! She is precious! I love the outfit!! Every little girl needs to at least go through dance one time! You have every right to be proud! She is turning into a very lovely little girl!

I started ballet when I was just a little older than her and I can tell you that those are some of the best memories for me. Ava can tell how proud you are of her and that makes the experience even more wonderful for her.

Aww, I love that. The pics and the post. It makes me think of how God looks at our imperfect lives and see that our effort is good enough. Our constant trying and searching for Him is what he loves seeing. It not only makes Him excited, btu it also makes the angels above rejoice, as well. :]
