Random

I don't have a particular topic in mind this morning. Lately my mind has been a jumbled swirling mess of ideas which tend to keep me awake at night and cause me to distractedly put the peanut butter away in the refrigerator and the jelly in the pantry.

First, can I just ask, why are some people so mean? I'm talking about the kind of person who seems to gain great satisfaction from criticizing and verbally attacking everyone around them for no obvious reason. I have been running into more than my fair share of this type of person lately. These people must lead miserable lives. I just don't get it. Does it stem from a feeling of superiority or perhaps a lack of it which causes the attempts to cut others down? I don't know. It really doesn't matter. It's just flat out annoying.

This cool weather is so refreshing. I'm ready to start using that Arboretum membership we purchased a few months ago. I knew once Fall rolled around I would long to spend time in that beautiful setting. They have a lot of activities for children on certain days of the week. I'm looking forward to taking the boys.

I'm in a reading slump. I just finished two amazing books. The first two of a trilogy by Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games and Catching Fire.) Sometimes after I finish remarkable books, the next few I attempt to start just can't capture my interest. I've started two books recently that I may not finish. Nothing sounds good to me to read right now. I usually have a mile high list of books to read, so this is unusual. Anyone have a book suggestion? It's going to have to be something really good to get me out of this slump.

I just read The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult that I thought was pretty good. It even had some interesting comic book illustrations. You can link to it from my 2009 Book List.

Yeah...I am having the same problem since finishing Catching Fire. I thought that starting The Forgotten Garden (which I expect to be really good) would keep me reading, but I haven't spent as much time on it as I expected to thus far.
