What Difference Do It Make?

Almost everyone has either heard of, or even read, the book that swept the country about a year ago called Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. Now the duo have collaborated again to write What Difference Do It Make: Stories of Hope and Healing. I was touched by their first book, and that made me eager to pick up this second book. This latest book was not as moving as the first, probably because it doesn't tell the story of Ron's wife Debbie's battle with cancer or how Ron and Denver first formed a relationship. It would be pretty much impossible for a follow-up book to be as deeply inspiring as the first, so I'm not disappointed. This second book still has a lot to offer. It includes some back story on both men. Most accentuated is the story of Ron's alcoholic father and the long path to forgiveness and redemption Ron took throughout their relationship. It's also nice to read about things that have happened to Ron and Denver since their first book was published. Along those lines, there are short stories interspersed throughout the book about people who read the first book and took action. These stories range from marriages that were saved, non-profit organizations that were started, or peace that was found all because of the inspiration received from Same Kind of Different As Me. These short stories were not my favorite part of the book. Some were better than others, but I preferred to read about Ron and Denver and hear what they had to say. Those that enjoyed reading Same Kind of Different As Me will like hearing more of the story and knowing what the authors are doing now. But don't expect the same level of intense motivation and inspiration from this second book.

Thanks for this review. I was curious what this second book would be about and what you would think of it.
