Another Letter to Santa

My mom and I volunteered in Ava's class today at school. We helped run centers about "Christmas Around the World." At one of the centers, the kids wrote a letter to Santa, and here is what Ava wrote:

"Dear Santa, I would like a kitten for Christmas. Not a stuffed one, but a real one. I've been:
Naughty (Xed out) Nice (checkmark)
Really nice. I've always wanted a real kitten. Please don't leave it in my stocking. Not in a present either. I want her in rapping paper with airholes. Love, Ava

I love how Ava is concerned that stupid old Santa is going to wrap her kitten in a way that's going to be deadly.

I am pretty anti-pet. I can't see us getting another animal to shed fur, tear things up, scatter litter or poop all over, get into the food, be a hassle when we want to leave town, etc. But, these kids are starting to wear me down with their cute insistence. Don't tell them I said that. I am really trying to be strong.

P.S. I can't wait to write about the amazing holiday tea my mom and I attended at the Arboretum today...and I have pictures!

I feel the same way you do about pets...well, at this point in my life, anyway. I LOVED having pets as a kid/teenager, so I will probably end up giving that experience to my kids as well. But not starting any time soon!

My mom and I have been to the holiday tea at the Arboretum before and it is so much fun. I'm glad you got to go and I'm looking forward to pictures!

I'm not a cat person AT ALL - we have four dogs - BUT from what I've heard, cats can pretty much take care of themselves. You can leave them with litter boxes and food/water and they can be fine by themselves for a couple of weeks.
