Reading List

I've got a lot of books bouncing around in my head right now, so mostly for myself...but also for anyone who cares to know, here is a list of the books I am currently reading or longing to read soon.

I only have a few chapters left of Laura Bush's memoir Spoken from the Heart. It has been interesting, though a little bogged down in places by too many details I don't care about. Overall, a nice read though.

I saw a glittering review for a new vampire book called The Passage by Justin Cronin, and while I am mildly interested in reading it, it caused me to look him up and find 2 previous books by him with high reviews. I picked up Mary and O'Neil and The Summer Guest from the library today.

I'm pretty sure I've never read the classic The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom, so I bought a copy for 50 cents at the library a few weeks ago and hope to get to it soon. I know it must be good.

There is a huge joint book club meeting coming up soon for which 3 clubs are coming together to read and discuss the same book. I loved Carlos Ruiz Zafon's novel The Shadow of the Wind, so I can't wait to read our choice for this event, also by him, The Angel's Game.

Speaking of second reads by an author I have previously enjoyed...who didn't love Life of Pi by Yann Martel? Now his latest book Beatrice and Virgil is in my hands. I've heard mixed reviews on this one, basically people either love it or hate it. I hope I'll fall into the "love it" category.

I am finally intrigued beyond the point of return by the famous Steig Larrson trilogy: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. I don't own any of these and the waiting list for each of them is about 90 long at the local library. I've heard they were all published posthumously. I've been seeing them on amazon for ages now and think I'll have to pick them up.

That's all for now. What are you reading or looking forward to reading? I'm always happy to add to my list.

The Hiding Place is very good. One of my favorites. I am enjoying I Captured the Castle now.

"The Girl" books sound amazing to me too. I've been wanting to pick them up for a while now. I also can't wait to read Mockingjay at the end of August when it comes out. I also have my eye on The Known World, possibly.

I keep seeing the Larrson trilogy pop up on everything as well and keep wondering if I should take the plunge and read them...
