1. It has to be something good enough to spend time listening to it.
2. It has to be no longer than 7 hours because after my 6 hour car trip I don't care to invest a ton more time listening to the thing.
3. It has to be available at the library.
You would never believe how hard it was to meet all 3 criteria. I was on amazon and the library website looking up possibilities then checking them for availability. There were several that looked good but were something like 18 hours long. No thank you! Lots were perfect but the library copies were all checked out. I finally found one that fit the bill- The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. I've heard a lot of positive buzz about this book, and the library had 4 audio copies available because it is the current "everybody reads one book" choice for the city.
It's 7 hours long and I am looking forward to my first ever audio book experience. I'll let you know how it goes.

Enjoy your car ride and your book. I used to love the peace of driving to and from Abilene because it's not too long of a drive. Just enough time to enjoy music (or an audio book) but not so long that you get really bored. And now, to make that drive again...just me...would be heaven!
So how did you like the book? I read it about a year ago.
