2 Miles

Five months ago I would have never believed I could run a mile without stopping. But after many weeks of practice, it happened, and I was thrilled! Move several months forward and my "run without stopping" distance had not lengthened by much. I'd done a mile and a half a few times. But I am still a sucker for the short walking break.

Last night, however, I accomplished something so exciting. I ran TWO miles without stopping. I still can't believe it. It was 24 and some odd minutes of solid run time and it was an amazing accomplishment for me! And yes, it kind of wore me out so the last mile of my 3 miler was not totally up to snuff, but let's focus on the really awesome part: I ran TWO miles with no walking breaks!

Remember, I started running after a decade of not exercising at all, AND I am not a natural at running at all. In fact, I am pretty convinced that my body is not ideal for running. I have a lot of breathing issues, which have taken so much time to overcome (and I am still working on it.)
So the fact that I could get to a point where I can run 2 miles without stopping means I have put in a ton of work in order to build up to it.

There are so many times when I feel like I should be farther along in my training. I still can't run an entire 5K without walking. I'm kind of slow. But I have to remind myself where I started (I could not even run 2 minutes at a time) and then I realize that I HAVE come a long way.
