Anyone who knows me knows that my give-away would have to involve a book. This isn't just any book, though. This is a book that has blessed my life in ways I find difficult to express through words.
Even the story of how I came to be in possession of this book is special and touched with mystery and grace. A few months ago, quotes and mentions of this small devotional book titled Jesus Calling began turning up in my life. I became intrigued and borrowed the book from a friend so I could look through it. The background: A woman named Sarah Young decided to write daily snippets of encouragement based on Scripture. These snippets are written in first person, from God, as if He were speaking directly to you. They are short but powerful. I am touched every morning as I read, and I have grown more aware of God's presence and love for me by leaps and bounds. About a month ago, I was having a tough morning, and a woman at church ministered to me with prayer and conversation. I didn't even know her. The next week, I was still feeling troubled and I found myself asking God to give me some reassurance that he was still there, still listening, still caring. Would you believe this woman who I had only met the week before came up to me and handed me a beautiful copy of Jesus Calling and said she just felt like I needed to have this book. She had no idea how meaningful that book had become to me or that it represented God's presence to me.
I knew right then that was a message from God that he was of course still near, still present, still loving, and still caring for me.
I returned the copy I had been borrowing to my friend, and now I read my own dear little copy that sits on my nightstand. I want to continue to pass it on, as it was passed on to me, and give a copy of this sweet book to one of you.
All you have to do is leave a comment. I will choose a name at random on Tuesday Dec. 6 at noon. You will receive your copy of the book that same week because yours truly has a free AmazonPrime 2-day shipping trial going on right now. Yes!
I realize a lot of people might already own this book- it seems kind of popular (although I had never heard of it until recently.) I would encourage you to go ahead and enter the contest. If you win the book, give it to a friend. It might end up being the same kind of blessing to them as it was to me.
