I'm so excited because I found out there is a kids' version of the daily devotional book "Jesus Calling". I ordered it and received it two days later and now the kids and I are starting off each day by reading from that book together. Ava and Nate take turns doing the reading. The one that doesn't read the main paragraph gets to look up one of the associated Bible verses at the bottom of the page and read it aloud. Lucas can't take a turn reading yet, but he likes to listen.
They are enjoying this and have told me these are "good things to think about"...those are Ava's exact words.
I have a great feeling about this new morning tradition.
