Pirate Lucas

One of the coolest things to do at the zoo is feed the birds.  It's a steal, too, since $1 brings tons of smiles and photo opportunities!

One bird in particular landed on Lucas and seemed to really like him.

It started on his hand, but then decided to crawl up his arm onto his shoulder.  "I must be a pirate!" exclaimed Lucas.

He kept a nervous eye on the bird...

Until it crawled onto the hood on his jacket where he couldn't quite see it anymore.  The bird settled in and looked as if it had no intention of moving away.  It was a chilly day.  Maybe Lucas' jacket was a cozy spot.

After a while (and after the bird put its sharp talon on his neck...) Lucas called Nate in to help remove the bird.  Nate was happy to assist!

And where is Ava you might ask?  That girl wants nothing to do with birds landing on her.  She sat outside waiting for us.  She won't let a bird land on her arm, but she'll do this........?
