A simple cold

The amount of misery caused by a simple cold is simply amazing. For the past four days or so I have been coughing constantly, blowing my nose every few minutes, sneezing, feverish, achy, sleep-deprived, watery-eyed, and basically good for nothing. I went through nearly two boxes of kleenex by myself. I spent a lot of time sitting or laying on the couch. I was awake until 2 AM one night and woke up coughing other nights. I've almost finished an entire bag of cough drops and became so desperate one night that I guzzled quite a bit of cough syrup right out of the bottle...more than one dose worth I am sure. I never seem to appreciate just how good it feels to be well until I suffer a little bit. And all it takes is a little bit of suffering to make me appreciative of the relatively good health I enjoy. I am so glad this cold is finally going away, and I am glad that the worst health issue in my life right now is a cold.
