Around the House

I've been meaning to post about some recent decorative additions around the house. This first is one of my favorites. As soon as we moved in and I started enjoying the beautiful sun room, I decided that I would like to have a stained glass hanging for it. Last Fall, a friend and I went to Canton and stained glass was my main mission. Her main mission was wrought iron pumpkins, and I gladly jumped on that bandwagon also. I brought home 3 pumpkins and this lovely thing...

We saw so many old wooden frames with stained glass inside. But some were priced outrageously high and others were just plain ugly. This one was made just for me because it was a gorgeous design AND had one of the best prices we had seen. I was so happy to find it.

Speaking of good prices...
After we got our furniture all moved in and arranged how we wanted it, I felt like something was missing. The rooms seemed sort of bare. That's when I remembered my favorite decorating tip of all time: plants. Plants are an inexpensive way to warm up any room. I went to Walmart and spent a tiny amount of money on some large plants and pots. And I also got some plants for free because my mother-in-law was sweet enough to share some of hers with me.

Those blinds are in a constant state of disarray thanks to Lucas.

I feel your pain with the long windows. I love long windows, but babies cannot leave them alone! I just leave the blinds up and all day and lower them when Blake goes to bed. Totally love what you have done with the place. The stain glass is fabulous and the plants made a homey house seem even homier. Not sure if I spelled that correctly. Please forgive me this once. :)

Love the stained glass piece!!! It looks so lovely with the light shining through in your picture (we don't get to see the light Sunday evenings!). I love the plants... I was just talking about how much I miss having plants around my house. I have NONE! We've been at our house nearly three years and still have no indoor plants! I will definitely have that on my list of spring to-do's! Thanks for the reminder!!!
