Greenling and Peach Tarts

Cody's parents gave us a bunch of peaches they picked from trees in their yard.  I also had a few peaches from my Greenling box this week.

I had never heard of Greenling until a few weeks ago when my friend Emily sent me a link to sign up for a free "local box" trial.  I signed up and received my first delivery a few days ago.  This company delivers fresh local produce (and other goods) to your doorstep on a weekly, biweekly, or "however often you want it" basis.  The local box is a set cost of $35 and contains random fruits and veggies, a list of the local farms from which they came, and a few recipe suggestions.  The box is an nice, heavyweight plastic bin that stays cool for a few hours in the shade (there's some kind of disposable ice pack inside).  When it's time for the next delivery, you leave the old box on the porch and they replace it with the new box of goodies.

I'm not sure how great of a value it is.  Although the convenience of having it arrive at my door is a big plus.  And it's also kind of inspiring to receive a box of surprise foods.  Incorporating them into the weekly menu can get me out of the usual ruts I fall into when meal planning.

If you are interested in trying it for free let me know and I will send you a link to get a free box if and when I can.  I don't currently have a link available, but I get them occasionally.

Anyway, all that to say I had a bunch of peaches lying around, and I decided to make peach tarts.  I was seeing delicate, individual, French style pastries in my mind so I looked on the web until I found something that matched up on Alexandra's Kitchen Blog.  The photo looked delicious, the recipe looked easy, and I proceeded to create 6 little peach tarts.

I just found out about Greenling also, through Dallas Moms Blog and have thought about purchasing a box. What a great idea! And the Peach tarts look scrumptious!
